I've been busy doing the usual run-of-the-mill activities of life. Had to do a few errands today, and yes - it's still hot. Ugh!
I love having the summer time off, but I need to get back to work and make a little money; unemployment benefits are a joke.
I've been writing like a fiend. I'm almost done with a story which was intended to be a short one...it's evolved into a novella. lol (And as such, I won't bother putting it here with some other short stories I've written).
The kitties are all well; my mom is okay physically, but her mind is deteriorating. It's obvious when I talk to her, and it just makes me sad, especially as she use to be such a strong intelligent woman. She knows that her mind is changing, and she lashes out because of it. All I can do for now is talk to her frequently, remind her of stuff, and tell her that she is in a great place, with her beau, to try to keep the paranoia and spitefulness at bay. Sigh.
I don't know about 'beautiful'...but then again, beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
Oh, it's just too damn hot! Thank God for the occasional cool breeze!
I'm currently writing a short story (well, the damn thing is turning into a novella) in which the main character is a young woman who loves Keats.
I'm using his 'La Belle Dame sans Merci' throughout the story.
What tripped me out was the fact that Keats, and Polidori - one of my faves, who wrote 'The Vampyre' - were born in the same year, and died in the same year.
Keats: October 31, 1795 - February 23, 1821.
Polidori: September 7, 1795 - August 24, 1821
Strange...very creepy and strange.
A lot of streets are tied up - especially in the Marina now - with the filming of the film 'San Andreas', staring Dwayne Johnson ('The Rock').
A lot of films are made in and around San Francisco, and they generate a lot to the local economy, but some of the traffic tie-ups...
AAAAAARRGGH!
And yes - I do recall the huge quake of '89. Not fun.
COMMENTS
I heard there was a lot of it filmed here in Brisbane, Australia. Makes sense, you know... San Francisco, earthquakes pan to Koala being all like "the fuck, mate?"
Oh, wait. No... We don't tax movie makers in Queensland. Now it makes sense!
Ugh!! I hate driving where traffic is all backed up..good thing I live in the sticks! no one wants to make a movie here lol
Typo...that should be 'Francisco' in the title...duh.
Via another friend here, I was on Tagged for a hot minute. I didn't stay long, as I felt the site was full of slimy characters. Plus - it was full of viruses.
While going through my emails yesterday, I get a message from Tagged stating that I was 'bought' for blah blah millions of dollars. I thought - that site is still up? I never deleted my profile, as I was afraid to log onto the site and get attacked by more viruses. As it is, they are still up and running, and my new desktop has a lot of protection.
I log on, browse through messages and shit that is over 3 - 4 years old, etc. I log off. Still not interested in the site.
I check my email this morning; I got a ton of messages from dudes on Tagged. Delete, delete, delete. One message stood out though, and it made me laugh:

good morning this morning lol my name is Txx, how are you? I hope you don't mind, that I borrowed a pic of your eye for my wallpaper for my phone? Report

If it's only for your wallpaper...okay. I use that eye for other stuff I'm doing, so I don't want it to be all over the place...
WTF? Apparently, the original color version of my eye - which is currently my avatar pic here in black & white - is on some random dude's phone.
Oooookay...

Re-worked my resume and reference list; actually got through to my medical insurers to get info on where to go for prescriptions (they are hard to contact), and did a little studying with the flash cards (repetition, repetition)!
Spoke to my sis Yoli about our mom, and what's best for her...it is going to be hard to get Mom to go along with anything, as she fights and is combative most of the time. Sigh.
I think I'll do some more writing, and be back later on this evening.
Chatter for the last few days - as I haven't been here as much as usual, and not so chatty:
Dealing with aging parents/grandparents and the problems that arise; reading drama-filled journals; working hard and never having enough money; Perv Ping-Pong; various ways to dispatch annoying guys (letting one bleed out via the femoral artery is one of my faves); Irish history; flamenco; and creative writing.
Mmmm...Fuji apple and grapes.

Oh wait...I thought you were calling ALL fruits to your journal. My apologies! >:P
"CALLING ALL FRUITS...NOW!"
I cant eat me apples... I learned a few years back Im allergic. I totally changed my diet too recently. Anyway, hope you enjoyed uggh... If I were not allergic to apples... Sounds sooo yummy my mouth is watering XD
Two days ago: As I'm walking out of my local Walgreens, I pass a woman who looks familiar. She actually stopped me and asked: Hey! Didn't you live in Menlo Park?
Me: Yes...
Her: I knew I recognized your face! Your name is Monique, right? And you have two sisters...
Me: Yes - I'm Monique. And you're Phyllis, right?
Her: Yeah - I'm Phyllis! Wow...I remember that you were really quiet and the smart one in class.
Me: I guess so *laughs*
Her: And you wore glasses
Me: Yeap. Big thick Coke bottle bottom glasses
*laughs from both of us*
Her: Wow. You look so pretty. You almost look the same...
Me: Thank you. But I definitely don't look the same as I did in the 8th grade...*laugh*
Her: I meant - you have aged well. Girl, look at these lines in my face!
Me: Time marches on for us all.
Her: Not really...you look so young. We are the same age - you're what - 52 - 53 years old, right?
Me: Yeah...
Her: Girl...you are a vampire!
*we both laugh*
Me: Well - you have a great day!
She proceeds to walk into the Walgreens as I walk away.
I'm a vampire.
So there IS a reason why I come to VR so often. lol
I wish that I could utilize the Bloody Feather Blog for only 1 - 2 of my journal sections - not everything...lol
For those of you who are old enough, you will recall that famous 'groan' in old Alka-Seltzer commercials from the 70's and early 80's.
Usually - whenever I get a burrito, I eat half, and save the other half for the next day. Since I was running about like a madwoman today, I didn't have lunch, so by the time I got home, I got that burrito...and I ate the whole damn thing. This is the second time I've done this in the span of two weeks.
And I feel like I have a brick in my gut.
Ugh.
I hope that I go 'plop-plop' soon, without the 'fizz-fizz'.
(Yeah I know - another Alka-Seltzer reference).
COMMENTS
I can relate. Hope you feel better.
Aw poor thing. I know how you feel. I finally had to start restraining myself. I eat the rational portion and then wait for the hunger pains to subside. If they do not then I have a snack.
I hope you feel better soon.
When I was in fourth grade, I used to sing these lyrics that I made up to the Alka Seltzer jingle: Plop plop flush flush. Oh what a relief that was!

Busy...busy...busy.
In addition to the crap I do every day during the summer when I'm not working, I've been studying like a madwoman for that state exam. And writing bizarre shit like a psycho...and I don't even do drugs.
Whoopee!
I'm so tired.
And the latest chatter over the past 2 - 3 days:
Scoring on antique finds; catching up with one here whom I haven't spoken to in awhile about stuff :) ; stressing over work, money, a non-working truck, and life in general; laughing over 'perv' chats; food; losing pets and the sorrow it brings; drawing and painting; writing short stories (lately, I've been on a roll - lol); alternative rock; and cray-cray VR journals.
While hangin' out here, I also have the urge to listen to a lot of Pat Benatar now.
Her voice is awesome (she was classically trained); and I love the lead guitarist, Neil Giraldo (her husband). Me and another friend had a crush on him back in the day, while in our early 20's.
Damn - I'm gettin' old. lol
I just read a few journal entries...
VR has some crazy mother fuckers.

Well, they come in like the tide. Low, then high. LOL
Yawn.
I love writing and I grow as I write, but it sometimes sucks the energy out of me. As I have a lot to do tomorrow, I better log off. I need some sleep!
Plus...Miss Kitty just took a shit and stunk up the whole apartment. Gotta' deal with that RIGHT NOW! Ugh...funky...

As for US citizens bashing illegals/immigrants - I can understand if the borders are being totally over-run, especially by criminals. And those criminals come in all stripes, from south of the border, all the way from Russia.
We do have a social service system that can't accommodate the citizens we have, so scrambling for crumbs can turn into warfare; I've heard the grumbling amongst white and black Americans, on how 'Everything is going to the Hispanics and Asians..." I get it.
But instead of spending an inordinate amount of time whining and bashing, people should concentrate on getting their own shit together. I feel confident in saying that the people who sneak across the border for work aren't doing any of the jobs we'd do anyway (I don't know of any Americans taking a job to pick lettuce or cotton for 12 hours a day, for minimum or below minimum wage). Sure, some of the construction and day labor is being done by a lot of immigrants, but that is then mainly the fault of the companies/people who are hiring them illegally.
What I really dislike is the racist element of the debate, and that is what I see a lot. Being angry with whom you think is a competitor for what little resources are available is fine; resorting to spitting out ethnic slurs is just fucked up, and does nothing to help your argument.
And for the record, as an African American, some of my ancestors were here for over 200 years - a lot longer than many of the angry white folks spewing hate. (I mention white people, as those are the ones I see in the news clips carrying-on at their border rallies and stuff). Anyway, my history is according to family anecdotal stories, and actual DNA results - I'm speaking of the African side. Add into the mix Scottish, German, Irish, and Danish, plus a tiny bit of undetermined 'Asian' (which we assume may actually be Native American, whom the experts contend originally came here from Asia), and you've got a nicely tossed salad. I'm an American, and proud of it!
I will not go out in the street yelling, referring to illegal kids as filthy Mexicans, Guatemalans, etc. who want to leech off of the US government. (We do have enough of our own doing that though). Hell - maybe they do hope to leech, as we make it so easy for anyone to waltz right on into the country...
Seems to me that we should be blaming ourselves for most of the immigrant mess, and not the desperate people who risk everything to get here.
I'm a citizen, with not very much in the way of material goods. My life may suck sometimes, but I'm not blaming anyone else for my ups and downs, and what I don't have. I have to concentrate on improving my life, and not blame any other person/ethnic group for my problems, be they native born or not.
I wish the haters would do the same.
They finally loaded the body at 1:35 pm. They had to get creative with holding up that blue blanket to shield their work, as the wind kept blowing it up.
I heard a cop state that the street should be back open in about 20 minutes, with the bus returning to its regular route. My errands can wait until tomorrow though. What I need to do is via walking, and I don't want to pass where that dead body was.
COMMENTS
1:52 pm. Already there is a smell...like decomposing meat. The fire dept is washing away the 'matter' from the sidewalk now. I see a huge blood pool and stuff from the body, that is still in the street. Oh God, please wash that shit away ASAP. Ugh.
Such a wonderful holiday... Shame about the stink but at least you're not a prisoner in your own home.
Only takes one git to fuck-up so many people, let alone the victims family and friends...
Sucky way to spend the day.
It's 1:11 pm and the body is still out on the street. The coroner arrived around 40 minutes ago. The cops are all just hanging around with the coroner dept people. I wish that they'd load the deceased into the van...good grief.
Right outside my living room:
Further up the street - notice the top tree in the pic? The body is next to it, covered in a yellow tarp. It's hard to see, but it's there:
COMMENTS
It's ridiculous that it's taking them this long. Hell, at this point the forensic analysts may have a better shot if they just show up at the scene.
Not to mention, they still haven't loaded the body into the van? I don't even want to think about what that must smell like after being out in the heat for so long.
In my opinion, there are only very, VERY few things that could deem a murder just and honorable. To me that would be if it's to defend a child, defend the elderly, or to defend the disabled if any of them are in a life-threatening situation and unable to defend themselves.
Oh - I'm pretty sure that this had to do with drugs.
I swear - people disgust me every day. Which is why I like animals better. They only kill to eat and to protect their young. You won't see a deer bustin' a cap in someone's ass over a baggie.
Damn...it's a little after noon and the body is still out in the street. Cops are standing around it to keep the looky-loos away. The weather is heating up too. The vehicle I saw wasn't the coroner. So...everyone is waiting for them to show up.
Good grief...
Woke up to a relatively quiet morning. The sun was out, and birds were chirping. There was some traffic and people on the street - the usual.
Around 10:30, I hear sirens. I look out the bedroom window to see a fire truck and a patrol car blocking the street. A cop starts taping off the corner to keep cars and people out.
I'm thinking 'What the fuck is going on?' I hear more sirens - cops - and I go to look out of my bay windows in the living room. They are taping off that corner as well. I had planned on doing some local shopping, but as of right now, I'm pinned in.
A coroner's vehicle pulls up, then I notice a body on the street. It's covered with a bright yellow bag, but I can tell that it's on it's back, due to the fact that I can see the feet sticking up.
Now - I sure in the hell didn't hear any gunfire. (Unless a silencer was used). I'm assuming that this person got shot, as a crime scene person - a Latina - is placing markers on the ground where bullet casings would be. From my vantage point, I see three of these markers...
It's now 11:11 and they are still out there. The body hasn't been removed.
Goddamn!
Holy shit. I hear actual gunfire mixed in with the fireworks.
I pray that nothing catches fire or gets hit by a bullet.
Sigh.
Last night, I made another new friend and had a lot to talk about!
I had an awesome conversation with a very intelligent, funny woman here - how did we missed being friends? When I later went into the VR section of her journal, I was in tears from laughing so hard...speaking of VR, some of the drama here is fit for 'reality TV' - which I hate, by the way. Actually, if a show was created to highlight the psychos of VR, I'd be an avid viewer...
Other chats included: How we don't want and don't have kids (And I like kids. Especially when they are someone else's); vintage cookbooks, and luxurious vintage fabrics (drool); pondering the meaning of life and day-to-day activities; and getting hit on by another Cyber Lothario. (They make us laugh. And most of them can't put a simple sentence together).
Wow. After doing the routine things of feeding the cats in the early am, cleaning their litter box, and doing a little more cleaning, I went back to bed as I usually do. (This is the routine when I'm not working - lol). Anyway, I will usually sleep for about two more hours, then get up.
I don't know why I slept until exactly 2:22 pm today...???
And I wasn't hungry. I had to force myself to eat. Now - that was even stranger, as I LOVE to eat - lol.
Ladies...did any of you also get something like this tonight? (Of course - read from the bottom to the top). Good grief. I hear a squeaky violin playing in the distance...

The latest chats served up a variety of interesting topics, plus some uexpected craziness:
Talked about the need to get a well-rounded liberal arts education (with a small loan – ugh); me looking younger than my age (Er – okay. I’m a vampire, folks); having a wonderful chat about poetry and other literary stuff (I can’t write poetry for shit, and I’d love to get my hands on a copy of Beowulf in it’s original old English); cooking (which I don’t do much of) and how expensive some groceries are; coming up with song lyrics while in the shower; and peering into journals for the latest VR drama.
Speaking of VR drama …I’m at a loss as to how an interesting NORMAL conversation spirals down to an emotional train wreck.

Like I'm going to get anything edible from a store like that. Most of that shit comes from unregulated sources in China. No thank you!
Two nights of chatter included:
The art - and love - of writing short stories with two different friends here; VR 'Lotharios' vs Cavemen: the cavemen win; my sister's closet (with exhibits - lol) which is full of designer clothes, a vintage zebra skin run, and a chandelier; work and school; picking brains and bra latches; and VR drama featuring the top crazies!
Watched the Algeria - Germany match while at the laundry mat. (Germany won 2- 1; all of the scoring was in overtime).
Ate a huge burrito...the whole damn thing. I usually will eat half, and save the other half for later.
This was not an intelligent thing to do. I can't move around very well right now.
Duh.
Studied for about 2 hours - then I began to nod off. Of course the burrito in my gut had a lot to do with it.
Double Duh.
